Many law firms rely heavily on LexWorkplace to keep their practice running. For that reason, we try to be very transparent about what we're working on, what we plan to work on next, and what we're still considering.
Here's a little insight into how we decide what we're going to build, and when.
Features + Roadmap
Ideas and requests for new features come to us in a variety of ways, most notably via our public Roadmap and the ability to Request a Feature within LexWorkplace. We routinely solicit customer feedback, organize and tabulate every request and idea, and study each request carefully.
From there, every request gets sorted into one of several groups:
Under Review - We're still evaluating or gathering additional user feedback, and have not yet decided to build this feature
Planned (General) - We've decided to build this feature, but have not committed to a specific timeframe
Planned (20XX) [current year] - We've decided to build this feature, and it is on our Product Roadmap for the current year
In Progress - We're actively working on / building this feature
Complete - We've built and shipped this feature! See LexWorkplace Release Notes for more information on each product update.
On the Roadmap board, these stages appear as three columns — In Progress, Planned, and Complete — so at a glance you can see what's underway, what's coming, and what's already live.
The order in which we build new features is generally, but not entirely, based on demand; the requests our customers upvote most tend to rise to the top.
Note
Our Roadmap reflects our current plans and priorities, not a guarantee of timing. We may re-prioritize, adjust, or pivot as we learn more or as customer needs shift. A feature's stage tells you where it stands today, not a firm delivery date.
Quarterly Development
In advance of each calendar quarter, we review all open feature requests and decide which new features and internal improvements we'll build that quarter.
Because of this rhythm, once a feature moves past Under Review — meaning it's a matter of when, not if — you can think of it as falling into one of three buckets:
Someday (Planned) — We're committed to building it, but haven't slotted it into a specific timeframe.
This Year (Planned 20XX) — It's on our Roadmap for the current calendar year.
Now (In Progress) — It's one of the features we've chosen for the current quarter and are actively building.

Request a Feature — tell us what would make LexWorkplace better for your firm.
Browse and upvote — view all open feature requests (from our team and from other firms like yours) and upvote the ones that would be most valuable to you. Upvotes directly influence what we prioritize.
Tip
When you upvote or comment on a request, you'll be notified as its status changes — so instead of wondering "when will this ship?", you'll hear from us automatically when it moves to In Progress or Complete.
