# Outlook Addin Versions

LexWorkplace has had a number of iterations of its add-in for Microsoft Outlook over the years, each with increasing functionality.

This reference/table summarizes the key details of each version of LexWorkplace’s Outlook add-ins, including supported features, supported Outlook/Exchange environments and how to install.

## LexWorkplace for Outlook

> We recommend the newest Outlook add-in, “LexWorkplace for Outlook” for most firms and users.

This version of the Outlook add-in has the most email management features, including most notably: *Smart-File,* where LexWorkplace learns what email addresses associate with which Matter, and *Email Multi-Select,* which provides the ability to select multiple emails and file (or Smart-File) all at once.

LexWorkplace for Outlook only works with Microsoft 365, and does not work other implementations of Outlook/Exchange such as on-premise or hosted Exchange. Firms should only use an older version if they require support for legacy Exchange/email services.

## Legacy-Exchange Outlook Add-in

This version of the Outlook add-in was an interim release, published to give firms with legacy Exchange/email services (specifically: Microsoft’s EWS platform) the ability to use LexWorkplace email management. This version should only be used for this purpose, and using it means foregoing key features, namely Smart-File and Email-Multi-Select (as described above)

## Original Outlook Addin

This is the first version of the Outlook add-in for LexWorkplace. It had basic save-email-to-matter capabilities, as well as the ability to “attach from” LexWorkplace. This version is no longer available and listed here for historical documentation purposes.
